Subject: Regarding registration of Hotels, Construction of Cinema Houses etc. as SSI.

Sir,

Number of letters are being received from States/Associations seeking clarifications as to whether activities like Hotels, Tourism, Construction of Cinema Houses, Tea Processing and blending, diagnostic Centres etc are to be treated as industrial undertaking eligible for registration with the Directorate of Industries as Small Scale Industry.

Based on the recommendations of the 40th meeting of Small Scale Industries Board, the Government has decided that ventures like hotels, tourism, construction of Cinema Houses, tea processing and blending, diagnostic centres etc. which come under the purview of other Ministries are not to be covered under MSME-DO's Assistance Programme and hence registration of such activities under MSME-DO's Assistance Programme is not to be granted.

This supersedes all earlier instructions on this subject, if any.
