INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION
O/o DC(MSME) can cooperate /collaborate with the beneficiary governments
for the development of SMEs through concerned Ministries. Expertise
can be provided to the relevant counterparts of the beneficiary
governments connected with the development of SMEs in their countries
in the following areas:
Agency to agency co-operation.
Formulation of industrial development policies to facilitate accelerated growth of small industries based upon local resources and markets.
Identification of industrial opportunities including ascertaining their commercial viability, based upon local consumption or exports.
Project Development including preparation of project profiles, for the identified opportunities to facilitate promotion of such industries.
Identification of technology and equipment's for setting of identified industries based upon local/export market requirements of volume, quality, etc .
Training for technology levels, covering skill development, management upgradation, technological upgradation and entrepreneurship development, including training of trainers.
Infrastructure development particularly in the form of industrial assistance for scientific and economic development of small enterprises.
General consultancy, covering all aspects of industrial development.
Past expertise of SIDO in assisting SMEs programmes in other countries.
INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION ACTIVITIES
O/o DC(MSME) [formerly DC(SSI)]has provided specialized consultancy
to various countries for speeding up the industrialization process.
To name a few, Senegal, Cameroon and Benin, and Vanuatu etc., are
the countries which have already received the services. Countries
like Zimbabwe, Trinidad and Tobago etc. are in the process of negotiating
the specialized consultancy. Further, many countries viz. South
Africa, Venezuela, Malavi, Mauritius, Zambia, Brunei Darussalam
and Kazhakistan, etc. are in touch with India through correspondence
regarding the probable cooperation between the 2 countries for SMEs
development.
The above consultancy and cooperation has been pursued under bilateral assistance programme as well as with the assistance of international agencies such as CFTC, UNIDO etc. Views are being exchanged continuously with International Organizations like APO-Japan, UNCTAD-Geneva and UNIDO.
