IMPORTANT MEETINGS AND ACTIVITIES



1. SIGNIFICANT ACTIVITIES OF OFFICE OF DC(MSME) DURING SEPTEMBER 2007

   IMPLEMENTATION OF MSMED ACT 2006

(i) To encourage public sector banks and public financial institutions to contribute in the Credit Guarantee Fund Trust for Micro     and Small Enterprises (CGFTMSE), the said fund has been notified under the provisions of the Income Tax Act, 1961 vide     Notification No. S.O. 1569 (E) dated 18th September 2007.

(ii) Second Meeting of the National Board for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises was held under the Chairmanship of      Minister (Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises) on 18.09.2007.

2. IMPORTANT ACTIVITIES

(i) Two meeting with stakeholders on issues concerning (i) Paper products and (ii) Electrical machines, appliance & apparatus     including electronics and electrical appliances and electronic equipments and components in MSE Sector were held on     5.9.2007 and 6.9.2007 respectively under the Chairmanship of Addl. Secretary & Development Commissioner (Micro,     Small and Medium Enterprises).

(ii) Meeting on Mid-term Appraisal by the Department-related Parliamentary Standing Committee on Industry in respect of      annual targets set for 2007-08 and annual budgetary grants to the Ministry of MSME was held on 21.09.2007.

(iii) An Inter-Ministerial Team under the Leadership of AS&DC(MSME) participated in the symposium on "Investing Private       Capital in Emerging and Frontier Markets in SMEs" held at Geneva during 24-25 Sept. 2007. AS&DC(MSME) made a       presentation on Indian Scenario of SMEs with particular reference to the emerging success of finance. The leverage       developed at the Symposium will be followed up for further networking at the international level.

(iv) Office of DC(MSME) participated in the Seven Tehran International Industry Exhibition, 2007 held during Sept. 8-12,       2007 at Tehran, Iran. Eight MSME put up their stalls in the pavilion of the office. Export enquires worth US $ 450,000       were received by the participating units.

(v) Office of DC(MSME) participated in FIERA-DEL-LEVANTE-International Trade Fair, Bari, Italy, jointly with NSIC,       from Sept. 8-16, 2007. The pavilion of the DC(MSME) was visited by President of Puglia State of Italy and other      dignitaries of India.

3. SKILL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME

  17 Skill Development Programmes, 53 Entrepreneurship Development Programmes, 61 Motivational Campaigns and 34    Management Development Programmes were conducted by field institutions and autonomous bodies in which 9694 persons    were trained.

4. TECHNOLOGY UPGRADATION

(i) Autonomous bodies working under DC (MSME) provided assistance in designing and manufacturing tools, metrology and      quality control services to 35 small enterprises.

(ii) 1232 samples of essential oils were analyzed by Flavour & Fragrance Development Centre (FFDC), Kannauj.

(iii) 43 jobs undertaken from 14 units by the autonomous bodies under DC (MSME).

 

5. FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE FOR TECHNOLOGY UPGRADATION & MODERNISATION

   Under ISO 9000 Reimbursement Scheme an amount of Rs. 1.37 crore has been reimbursed to 302 MSME units and Rs.    1.38 crore is being issued to 363 MSME units. Further sanction of Rs. 5 crore has been issued to 26 MSME-DIs for    reimbursement to the units under same scheme after de-centralization of the scheme.
